Wedding RINGS.

So, I know most people dont buy their wedding rings 3 months after getting engaged and 1 year and 5 months before the wedding... but we're not most people and *I* am extremely organised. So, in november andrew and I took a trip into the city on the train. Diamonds International were having their 40-50% off sale (which Andrew also purchased my e-ring in, in june).

I knew I wanted a plain gold ring because I really really wanted to never ake my ring off and I knew I would feel like I had to work without it if it was diamond encrusted :) Im just really paranoid I guess. Anyway, the woman who served us was really nice, and at first she showed me this beautiful diamond ring that suited my e-ring perfectly. It looked really beautiful and I still think about it lovingly, but I turned it (and its $1000 price tag) down for a plain gold ring. Andrew got his too. If you've seen the 'good ring pictures' post below I think the rings appear in those, but heres a few anyway.


It cost us $393 for both of them. So pictured is $3988 worth of jewellery... eek.

Felt.

In my honest opinion, felt is the best material in the world. It may not be the prettiest, or the best feeling, but its so easy to make things with! I've been making felt flowers. Its been much fun, but Im looking forward to making some with a bit more detail, maybe some more stitches and beads... here are a few pictures.

good ring pictures

After reading a post on weddingbee.com about taking pictures of your rings, I decided to try it. What I did was, get a camera and set it to flash off and the macro setting (it looks like a flower). Then I got items which reflect me and Andrew and I took pictures featuring my ring on them in natural light. Thankyou Anne Ruthman!

The 1950s

Im in love with the 1950s. I didnt know I was untill a short time ago, when I was on weddingbee.com going through miss strawberry shortcakes archives. When I found all her vintage resources I realised that everything I love in terms of fashion and accessories is actually 1950s inspired. Its such a beautiful and innocent time and style.

Tuesday the 9th of December.

Since becoming engaged I have wondered many times about my own sanity. From what i read on weddingbee this is normal, and I feel that at such a stressful time in the brides life any crime committed in a mass of tulle or ribbon should be completely forgiven. I have only been engaged for four months and seven days but based on the events of this short time, I can see myself becoming a 'bridezilla'. I genuinely hate that term, its overused and really the only individuals accusing others of behaving like a 'bridezilla' would be those who are either men, never married women or women who can't remember how stressful trying to create the perfect day really is!
So far I have bought a dress and decided against wearing it, drifted between not wanting a reception at all and wanting the historic courthouse resturaunt at cleveland point. Ive wanted purple and green, all black, all white, pastels and rainbow as our wedding colours, and Ive adjusted our theme countless times. This may be considered the past-time of a 'bridezilla'. Or it may just be the activities of an eighteen year old fiance who never wants to regret anything about her wedding day. Ultimately I know that it wont matter whether I have a vintage 50s theme or a country england theme - what matters is marrying my bestfriend of 5 years on the day my grandparents married, 56 years before. This is, by far my favourite wedding 'detail'.

Theming our wedding has been one incredibly difficult aspect of the planning we are able to do this early. I always wanted a vintagey-country feel, but I really didnt want to be forced into having a pastel theme. I employed the same colour 'rules' with my wedding theme as I have with my own styling. That being- no pastels for a redheaded translucent skinned Emily. This probably isnt necessary as I will be wearing the lightest colour of all and it will be up to my 'ladies in waiting' to don the puffy pastel-ness. However, I think I have a conclusion... I want antique looking roses in birdcages for the centrepieces, thats really country-ish... Im thinking a dusty purple for the bridesmaids!
I have decided, despite my love for the country and pastel roses that the theme of our wedding is going to be my grandma and grandpa. We are getting married on the same day as they did, and I deffinately want a traditional wedding with a 1950s feel :)
